Eligibility Populations to be served

Family Caregivers
Grandparents or older individuals who are
     relative caregivers of children under 18.

The Caregiver Specialist/Planner in conjunction with the Care Coordinators/Benefits Counselors will provide education, training, resource library, peer counseling, support groups, information on community resources, access to community resources.

Other services include: respite services and supplemental services on a limited and short term basis for family caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren.

Helping Those Who Care for Others:

The National Family Caregivers Support Program was enacted in response to the need for caregivers to receive support and relief from the caregiving responsibilities.

National Family Caregivers Support Program Goals:

Give the caregiver a voice
Provide relief from stresses of caregiving
Provide education and training for the caregiver
Assist the caregiver in taking care of themselves
Provide respite and emotional support
Avoid abusive situations between caregiver and care recipient
Inform caregivers about available services
Assist caregivers gain access to available services
